New 2012 Training Workshop Schedule

We’ve made some changes to the 2012 training workshop schedule. The workshops in Florida previously scheduled for February have now been moved to April.

This decision was made to cut down on the amount of travel that Cindy and Ailene need to do over the next few months. They’ll be in both California and Colorado in March, then in Florida speaking at the 1st Annual NDPA (National Drowning Prevention Alliance) International Adapted Aquatics Conference on April 30th and May 1st. So it made more sense to piggyback the workshop onto that trip.

Here’s the new Spring 2012 schedule …

As the year draws to a close, we here at Angelfish Therapy are busier than ever. In addition to the time we and our therapists/instructors spend in the pools providing aquatic therapy and swim lessons for children with special needs, we’re also creating training DVDs and setting up new training workshops for 2012.

Aquatic Therapy — It’s Relevant

We just want to take a moment to say thanks to the many clients who have reached out to us with kind words about Angelfish recently. The heartwarming stories we hear — about children who look forward to their weekly sessions, who are enjoying increased mobility, who are able to focus better in school — help to remind us of exactly why we’ve chosen to do what we do.

If you haven’t already, please go read some of the wonderful stories in our Testimonials section.

We also want to thank those of you who took the time to tell us where we’re dropping the ball. Keep it coming! Your ongoing constructive feedback helps to make our programs and your experience with us the best it can possibly be. Overall, 2011 has been an exciting year for Angelfish Therapy, and we expect that 2012 will bring even bigger and better things. Not only our new Swim Whisperers program, but also a variety of internal changes, including improvements to our scheduling system, and the addition of a new Director of Operations, Randy Heller, who is more than happy to receive your feedback.

Tell Your Friends (and Doctors and Therapists) About Swim Whisperers!

Ailene and Cindy are back from Florida, where they had a great time spreading the word to hundreds of swim instructors from across the world about our new Swim Whisperers™ program at the USSSA and WABC conferences. Long story short, everybody was very excited to learn about the program, and they kept the ladies insanely busy every day they were there, bombarding them with questions about how they could start to use Swim Whisperers methods in their own classes.

Now that they’re back in town, it’s time to get down to business. We still have some Swim Whisperers openings to fill in our Manhattan, Stamford, Danbury, and Wilton pools, and we could use your help.

If you haven’t already, please take a moment this week to tell a few people about this great new program. It could be your child’s doctor, other PT/OT therapists, speech therapists, or other parents you know. It doesn’t even need to be parents of child with special needs. Swim Whisperers is a great program for any child who’s had difficulty learning to swim through traditional methods, even one who’s just afraid to go under water or let go of the side of the pool. We’ve had great success with kids at all ability levels, and are excited about the idea of turning children into confident and independent swimmers.

Swim Whisperers is On the Road

For those of you who usually have aquatic therapy sessions with Ailene or Cindy, you probably already know that they won’t be found in the pools in Connecticut this week.

Instead, they’re down in Florida, spreading the word about our new Swim Whisperers™ program at two conferences — the United States Swim School Association conference in Orlando, and the World Aquatic Babies & Children Network conference in Clearwater Beach.

USSSA and WABC are both great organizations that share Angelfish Therapy’s mission to help children of all ages, ability levels, and learning styles become confident and independent swimmers. When we first designed our Swim Whisperers program, we recognized that it would be impossible for us to personally teach every child in the world who experiences issues with traditional swim instruction methods how to swim. That’s why we’ve put together a video product aimed at swim instructors, parents, swim school directors, PE teachers, fitness instructors, and anybody else who deals with children who have issues that might physically or psychologically impede the process of learning to swim.

We’re putting the finishing touches on this video product now, and it will be available in November.

Our hope is that by presenting the innovative 14 step Swim Whisperers training method to the many swim instructors and swim schools who will be attending the two conferences in Florida this week, Cindy and Ailene will not only create awareness of the unique challenges some children face when learning to swim, but also give instructors the tools they need to improve swim competency and swim safety for children of all ability levels worldwide.

Introducing Swim Whisperers

After years of watching parents, caregivers, and swim instructors search for someone in their community who could go beyond aquatic therapy and teach their child to swim, we’ve decided to tackle it ourselves by combining our therapy experience to tease out the major sensory issues that interfere with acquisition of basic swim skills.

SWIM WHISPERERS is Angelfish Therapy’s swim instruction program aimed at all kinds of children, but particularly those who might experience limited or no success learning to swim through traditional methods. In short, the goal of Swim Whisperers is to turn any child into a confident and independent swimmer, no matter what their situation or condition is.

This new program is currently available in Stamford CT, Wilton CT, Danbury CT, and Manhattan.

It’s Time To Schedule Your Fall Aquatic Therapy Sessions!

It’s official. The summer is over and the new school year is upon us. That means it’s time for all of you parents out there to schedule your fall therapy sessions. As you know by now, aquatic therapy does wonders for helping children remain focused, supporting their land-based therapy initiatives, and creating a level of arousal that allows them to participate in school and family activities throughout the day. In short, it helps them become a splashing success!

Angelfish therapists can be found in the pools working with children almost every day of the week this fall, from morning to night!
